The Quirky Cup Collective Black Paper Journal Pen Test
Hi WashiGang crew!
Exciting news! We've just received the new The Quirky Cup Collective Black Paper Journals and we couldn't wait to do a pen test and review of these new journals.
Have you ever tried using black paper before? You can get some really fun effects using white, pastel and metallic gel pens & paint pens on black paper. You can also use a black paper journal for note taking, journaling and doodling.
Let's take a closer look at the new The Quirky Cup Collective Noir Black Paper Journals! The new Quirky Cup Collective Noir Black Page Journals have 160 pages of 120 GSM black paper with gold gilded edges. We have 3 beautiful hard cover designs available at WashiGang that are absolutely stunning, with gold foil illustrated details.
Pens and Pencils that we tested in The Quirky Cup Collective Noir Black Page Journal:
Sakura Gelly Roll Gel Pens
Sakura Moonlight Gel Pens
Zebra Sarasa Decoshine Metallic Gel Pens
Zebra Sarasa Milk Colour Gel Pen - White
Pilot Pop'Lol Pastel Gel Pens
Pilot Pop'Lol Metallic Gel Pen - Gold
Hybrid Dual Metallic Pens
Tombow Fudenosuke Pastel Brush Pens
Tombow Irojiten Coloured PencilsThere was no bleeding, feathering or ghosting to the other side of the page.
The Sakura Gelly Roll & Sakura Moonlight pens had the most opaque and bright ink on the black paper, however the ink took the longest to dry.
The Zebra Sarasa & Pilot Pop-Lol Pens dried quicker and were slightly easier to write with. All gel pens wrote beautifully on the black paper and stood out. The Hybrid Dual Metallic Pens have more of a glittery sheen on the page, we would recommend choosing lighter colours in the range to use on black paper, or pairing them with another brighter pen in your headings and designs.
The Tombow Fudenosuke Pastel Brush Pens have a chalk like effect when written on black paper. The colours get brighter as they dry. These brush pens also have a watercolour type effect where you can see different shades of pigment on the page, so layering can produce stronger colours.
We were really surprised at how beautifully the Tombow Irojiten Coloured Pencils show up on the black paper. Not only did the pale colours pop on the page, but so did the darker colours. These pencils would pair beautifully with the black paper for sketching, doodling and creating beautiful journal layouts.
