Tips & Tricks: Christmas in July
Do you celebrate Christmas in July? Maybe you should!!
With Christmas in July just around the corner, we thought we'd share a few prompts for creating a fun spread in your Planner or Journal! (Image featured below via @signed.michelle on Instagram) There's something about a winter Christmas that is SO MUCH more fun than a summer Christmas. We're all used to seeing Christmas movies, with snow, fire places roaring, cozy winter activities, baked goods and warm drinks... why not bring a little festive cheer to the Australian winter season, we say!! (Featured image below via @plan.a.gram on Instagram) It's also quite Hygge, to enjoy cozy festivities such as sharing a roast meal with friends, enjoying a mulled wine by the fire, having a Christmas movie marathon and snuggling up on the couch and wearing a cozy woollen jumper and socks! (You might want to add some Christmas in July festivities to your Hygge challenge and Cozy at Home #MyWashiGangJulySpread plans!)
Prompts for your Christmas in July planner or journal spread.
1. Create a Christmas in July spread. Pick a theme, such as, a colour palette, season, or style, or base your theme around an item/animal (such as pine trees, red florals, or winter animals). Pair your stickers and washi tapes to fit the theme! (Featured spread below, via @planwithmichele on Instagram) 2. Motivate yourself with fun, festive quotes. Practice your hand lettering or use all of the stickers! (Image below via @beas.bujo on Instagram, using the Tombow Dual Brush Pens) 3. Make a Christmas in July bucket list, listing all of the festive and cozy activities that you'd like to do. (Don't forget to schedule them in!)
7. Make a watch list of your favourite festive movies! (Image below via @dingbatsnotebooks on Instagram. Archer and Olive are my favourite notebooks to use for bullet journaling. the paper quality and thoughtful finishing touches are second t o none. I've only had the fabric cover notebooks before. The leather of this one makes the spine stiff and means the notebook doesn't lay flat. It makes it super difficult to draw my weeks and write in. it will be ok in the centre of the book but makes each end troublesome. you can put another book under it to boost it up but that just adds another step and clutter to my desk.
I'm gradually building my collection of these handy little stamp pads (ten colours and counting). I use lettering stamps in my bullet journal spreads every week and I like to co-ordinate them with the stickers and washi tape I have chosen for that theme. So these stamp pads are perfect. They are affordable, with a good colour range, and small enough that a growing collection doesn't take up too much space (and they are stackable and have little stand-up feet so you can store them a number of ways). The shape is also helpful - the point allows them to be used to fill stencils or even for precision-inking different parts of a stamp in multiple colours. I love them so much I'm about to order several more :)
Bought an beautiful square dotted grid journal and it's absolutely stunning! The pages are thick and luxurious, the cover is hardback and wonderfully illustrated in a snowflake design. Quite literally the best journal I've ever bought.
